    CCC with RS maker mark

A friend of mine has come across this today and sent me some photos... I will say the photos are awful.. I don’t get a good feeling about this one but I could be wrong, I think it’s a fake, all comment and opinions welcomed

Its an original Souval, however heavily messed with. I believe it is resilvered and the backplate is replaced (i.e. not original).

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Hi Thomas, thanks for your help with this one... I will try and get some better photos of the finish, I thought it looked odd myself also. How can you tell about the back plate ? Has it been re-crimped ? Just asking so I can learn.. thanks again

Original RS plates aren't trimmed on the corner, like we see on your clasp.

Also the finish on it is way too thick, so I suspect its a replacement backplate from long ago and someone touched it up with new black paint, probably around the same time this new silver finish was applied.

Thanks Tom.. that’s a great help, can we say it’s definitely a silver clasp? Could it be a Bronze re-finished in Silver to make it have a greater appeal ? Or make it more valuable? Trying to understand as much about this one as possible...

In my opinion it´s not worth putting any money on this one. You can easy find one in better shape.

I agree with you Andy.. not one for my collection, just trying to find as much about it as I possibly can.

Can anyone provide a rough guide to the value on a piece like this?

I say it´s a very low value, I shouldn´t pay anything for a CCC in that condition.

I agree, I wouldn't buy a clasp like this so heavily messed with.
