Order of Wear for Heer Medals

    Hey guys,

I remember coming across an image online some months ago that showed a diagram of where the medals on a heer tunic would be placed, and of course now I can't find it. Does anyone happen to have a copy they're willing to share here?

    Thanks!

Following up on this thread. If a German soldier earned an infantry assault and black wound badge, how would they be worn?

Does the infantry assault go in the middle of the pocket, then the black wound badge go below and to the wearer's right (center)?

Is there a document some where that shows the order of wear?

In FOR FUHRER AND FATHERLAND: Military Awards of the Third Reich, Vol 1 (Angolia, 1976) pages 422 & 423:

"War badges, those worn on the lower breast pocket in pin-back form, also had a distinctive rating, which dictated the placement of a badge relative to another. Combat badges ranked above qualification badges, but below decorations, e.g., Iron Cross or War Merit Cross."

Period photos show that the actual placement of these badges on tunics varied greatly, most likely due to ignorance of guidelines.

Here are some period photos that show awards in wear.

All these soldiers wear Wound Badges - note how the placement varies greatly.
