IAB in Silver hollow for review

    Hi guys!

The eagle looks the "Egghead"-version of an IAB, but I never saw a hollow one with ballhinge-setup.

Please let me know Your opinions on this badge!

Many thanks in advance and kind regards,

    Peter

Interesting badge for sure. First time i see this one with a ball hinge.
To me it looks like an original example.

Thanks my friend, but I have the same problem: never seen one like this!

My only idea was, that the strange setup results from a repair...

Hi Peter, it could be a repair, but by these pictures I don't see any traces of a repair. Can you make a closeup of the hinge, sideways?

Unfortunately difficult with the scanner but You also can't see anything with a loupe, I tried it...

IMO the hinge is also original to the badge, but as stated before, first time I encouter this with this maker.

Interesting for sure...without side views of the hinge at the reverse of the badge, difficult to authenticate.
Also, the area where the badge pin - tensioner foot comes into contact with the reverse wound be helpful as well.

                    Best Regards, fischer

                      Hi Peter

I agree with Fischer that close up side shots of the hinge would help.

To change the die on a hollow badge to be able to have a raised guide to crimp in a ball hinge sounds ridiculously difficult.

Try and inspect around the base of the crimp area to see if it is part of the badge or if it has been set on the badge and affixed somehow. If the ball hinge assembly including what is meant to be a crimp has been placed on, you should be able to see in my opinion.

                      Look forward to more pics

                      regards
                      Graeme
