Hello:

I had originally posted this piece in a thread started by Greg Hays called “How about some IAB stats” located at http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73186&page=6&pp=15 and it sparked some interest by other forum members who requested to see some additional pics. Not wanting to take Greg’s thread off topic I thought I would start a new post concerning this piece.

I picked this piece up little over a year ago at a Military Antique Shop in Belton, Texas. I’m not too versed on IAB so I will let the pictures do most of the talking. However, I will add that it is tombak, weighing in at 35.4 grams (1.25 oz), slightly vaulted and takes up residency on my M36 tunic. <O

Thanks for the additional pics. Well it for sure is related design wise to IAB's like the MK series, and the so called Zimmermann but it has much better detail. Also it seems to be a very heavy badge.

Personaly I don't have doubts in relation to it's authenticity it's yet another non-textbook original, very interesting.

thanks for the pics. I have been looking back and forth on this "odd" IAB and i have to say that i am not quite comfortable with it, don´t know what to make of it realy. It´s got to mutch resemblence with obverse of the fake WH IAB that was posted a while back by Tony C http://www.wehrmacht-awards.net/foru...ad.php?t=91525

But i would like to see better pics of the obverse and reverse in a straight angle.

I agree with Hans. It looks like a good match to the fake "WH" he referenced, to which Philippe concurred is a "known copie."

I don't see any relationship to the MK series nor to the Zimmermann IAB.
