      Hi,

      it's an original zinc IAB made by Karl Wurster in very nice condition. You will find the maker mark "w" left to the hinge.

          I can only agree with Sven, fine original Wurster.

          If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

            Variant Wuerster given the catch and catch plate. These normally have a ? catch without a plate. The hinge block is also different on this example.

              That is because this one is zink, so it needed a bigger catch plate for soldering. The earlier, tombak-based examples have the "?" catch.

                  The solid zinc Wurster can be found with both hardware set ups;

                  The smaller block hinge with the "?" style catch directly soldered to the reverse and the larger formed base sheet metal hinge along with the "C" style catch with catch plate.

                  It does stand to reason that a larger surface was needed to attach the hardware to the reverse of the zinc badges but we do not know for certain.

                  Best Regards, fischer
