Bronze FLL IAB for review -- what version?

    Hello Gents,

New to IAB collecting, and would appreciate comments on this bronze Friedrich Linden marked Infantry Assault Badge.

According to the IAB book, by Weber, if this is type 7.11, it should be unmarked. This example is marked. If it's a type 7.09, it seems to have the incorrect clasp.

    Thanks in advance.

      Hi DouglasDwight

......Looks to be a good one from here. I wouldn't sweat it too much about the clasp. Sometimes they break and are then replaced(wartime or post war), or sometimes the manufacturer had to go from the standard clasp used to whatever was available at the time. Since millions of these were produced, by a great variety of different manufacturers, it isn't surprising to encounter variations in hardware.

          Hi Doug,

Nice looking IAB for sure, lovely bronze finish remaining.

Can you show a side shot of the catch with the pin out of the way? Like Bruce says, several makers used different types of catches, and that is certainly true with FLL depending on what time period we are looking at with them. Later in the war seems to be more variations, most likely due to supply issues and material rationing, etc. Your example is a solid backed variant, and well marked so I suspect it is mid war example (1943 and later IMO).

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

That would be the same as this silver version.

Does look like an exact match, Ralph. Thanks for posting.
