First Ever Version of Silver BKA Outer Box?

I picked this up this combo recently and believe it to be (hope to be) the true version of the outer box to for least one round of Silber Bandekampfabzeichen awards. This is quite different from the one other BKA box discussed here and mentioned in the BKA reference book.

The cardboard material looks a lot like the boxes to my other Heer awards and the fact that in came with the correct green box inside makes me lean towards the positive. I'm interested to hear what you guys think.

Looks bellievable to me, but I'm not even a novice in boxes or cartons

          Cheers Thomas

            Tony,

I would post this in the box/case section for a better response.

This LDO box looks quite similar to the LDO box for the bronze Spain Crosses and IMO looks good.

The outer carton you posted is different than the Heer boxes I have. Most of my Heer boxes (CCC and IABs) are 2 piece (lid) types and have staples on the corners for reinforcement. Same type of outer carton for the RKs.

This type of outer carton is more similar to the ones used for WMCs, EK1s or Spanges.

I have never seen a carton contain an LDO box.

I agree with you, Gary. The LDO box is original. The outer carton...not so much.

It is kind of like trying to find an original case for the Memel medal. It doesn't exist, at least none have surfaced yet!

Thanks fellas. Also Antonio Scapini gave the thumbs up on the LDO case. He wrote:

"About the cardboard case I really don't know. First time I see one like that. I saw other with staples and marked wih the name of the badge and the grade, but never with that shape."

I believe Weitze has a Partisan badge in an LDO box like this on his site.

Finding the case for a BKA is good enough! Congratulations!

I quite agree. The box is probably harder to find than the award. Nice catch.

It is! Much, much, MUCH rarer!

Thanks fellas, I'm just confused by the outer cardboard box, which may be the rarest if it's real. It matches the contstruction of eK And EK Spange outer boxes, but that's the extent to which I can link it to being of the period. Strange that a repro box would come with a good case, but not strange enough in this hobby.

Tony, I would not throw it out. It is in the category of maybe for me, we just don't know at this time for sure one way or another. Maybe time will clarify the situation.
