    Carl Poellath paper GAB

    Hello guys,

Sometimes ago, at the last Military Show in Milan i bought this paper bag with the Carl Poellath logo stamp on the obverse. The bag is really worn and frail but as said from the dealer this bag cameout with a solid Rudolph Karneth Gab showed below...

I remeber that Giel found another Carl Poellath paper bag with a tombak R. Karneth Gab.

    Showed here : http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...light=poellath

And another set with a Juncker Gab showed in the same thread.

What's about of Carl Poellath Gab or paper bag?

    Thanks
    Nicola

        Hi Nicola

......Karneth? You mean RK don't you? Or perhaps this unmarked GAB was made by Poellath, and has just been mis-identified as a RK made badge?

          Hi Nicola,

Nice find, very uncommon to find these packets. Unfortunately bags were typically thrown away or commonly switched and its really impossible to say for sure what badge originally came in a certain packet.

Poelleth was located in Schobenhausen, quite a distance from Gablonz where the RK GABs likely originated from, so that really doesn't fit either.

Here is another Poelleth packet for the GAB, but this time found with a Juncker GAB in it...

What to make of all this? Poelleth was possibly a retail seller of GABs supplied by other makers (like Juncker or RK)? Did Poelleth make some of these GABs attributed to Juncker or RK?

The Poelleth firm was pretty prestigious with a long history of quality badge production before and up to WW2. It stands to reason they were quite capable of making their own badges and not having to be supplied by other firms. They also seemed to mark their products pretty well, so its a little surprising that we don't have marked IABs, GABs or PABs from this firm if they actually did make them IMO.

          Tom

            Hi Nicola!

I'm not good at badge bags, but I really like this Karneth GAB

Nice piece no matter what is written on the paper
