    IAB silver RK

    Hello gents,

I got this IAB and would like to know the maker of it. From my point of view it is an original badge made by Rudolf Karneth.

Please let me know your oppinion.

    Thank you

It is an original RK, but who RK is, is still unproven at this time.

      Hi Bosse,

Nice original RK in great condition. Lovely finish, and textbook hardware.

As Ralph says, there is some debate on who could lie behind the maker initials RK. Could be Karneth or other possibilities have arose, such as Robert Kreisel. Basically, anyone from the Gablonz area with those initials could be a candidate. But according to our member Pavel here, who does alot of investigative work on the ground in the old Gablonz area believes that only Rudolf Karneth was large enough to have produced the vast number of RK-attributed badges we see in the hobby today. RK GABs are hands-down the most common GABs to be found. RK PABs are also relatively common and their IABs are common to find as wll. They also produced Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe badges as well, so I tend to agree that whoever RK was, it must have been a relatively large manufacturer.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

          Hi Bosse

......As Ralph, and Tom have said it isn't yet known who the manufacturer RK was. It could have been a single very large manufacturer. It has also been suggested that RK was also a consortium of manufacturers comparable to AGMuK.

For a bit more depth on the RK mystery see the following thread. Especially see page 2:

          Very nice, very common IAB.

Common but still a nice example of a Gablonz IAB no matter who made it. Of course, I'm a bit biased.

              Hi everybody,

thanks a lot for your support and especially for the information on who could be behind the RK marking. That's why I love this forum.
