    Infantriesturmabzeichen in Silber, 4 Rivet

    A recent addition IAB collection.
This one still retains a lot of the original silvering on the obverse.

Absolutely gorgeous 4-Rivet IAB! Just lovely condition, excellent finish on that one. Textbook in every regard, great addition my friend.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                    Hi Ralph

......I find it interesting that the hardware is brass on the IAB and silvery on the GAB.

Is it because the hardware is made of different materials for each badge? Or was the silvering applied to the GAB after the hardware was attached, and just the opposite for the IAB?

                    Nice badges....both!

I am going to guess that there is no real standard. Here are some more photos of the hardware on the GAB. There is no trace of any brass color on the hardware anywhere but the silver finish is visible.

Here is an example on the e-stand right now showing brass colored hardware on the GAB.

                          Hi Ralph

......I appreciate the extra images. I believe you are correct that the explanation of thy differing materials used to create the hardware is unknown, but could suggest that manufacturers obtained whatever was available material-wise when needed, if they made their own hardware, or possibly whatever hardware the secondary supply market was able to supply at a given time, if they out-sourced the hardware.
