    I had a request to post this badge here,

    I got this off of ebay back in the good old days from no less than, the William C. Stump. When I questioned him on it at the time he sent me to this site to get educated, been here ever since.

      Hi Alan,

      Sorry, but I agree with Patrick. A cast fake with soft detail, plus the maker mark, rivets, hardware, etc are not correct for this maker.

        Well I have to admit this is an unexpected assessment considering I got this badge from Lifetime Member #6 of this forum.
        Here is the email chain I had with Bill back in January of 2001, he stood behind it and directed me here. Read it from the bottom up, I put red numbers on it.

            Hi Alan,

            Sorry to hear that you got stuck with this badge and I hope you didn't pay too much for it. You had some legitimate concerns about this badge when you first received it and I wish you would have trusted your gut instinct, stuck to your guns, and returned it rather than trusting someone else's 40 years of experience. I too have 40 years experience in this hobby and I can still make mistakes. The badge needs to stand on its own, without the written embellishments of the person trying to sell it. Unfortunately this badge is not "textbook" Gustav Brehmer in the least.

              Ok then, these are not my area and this is the only numbered badge of any type I have. LW has been my focus.
              Seeing Stump's name next to some high end pieces in Angolia's books of the 70's and having no other real resource at the time led me to trust him. He did point me here and I have learned a huge amount since.
              Guess you can delete the sale thread for it.

                A fake for sure, like the others have pointed out. In all fairness, the study of the GB badges was non existent back then and we have learned a huge amount since. Most of us in this hobby have gotten a bad badge or two along the collecting journey.
