Cool GI Souvenir Plaque with German Badges

A while ago I obtained this gem from an estate of a US Army GI who I was told had spent some time guarding German POW's in 1944/45 on the border of France and Luxembourg. The center badge immediately caught my imagination. Seven badges in all, I can see why the GI had decided to assign them to his trophy plaque....but wished that he had never removed the pins when mounting them.

None the less...it is a cool monument to his service and I can only wonder about each man who wore each. I am back and forth if I am going to keep this...as I am more of a uniforms collector. The Northern Front cross is very very cool on its own, as it has a high probability of having been taken off a member of the Waffen SS.

That is a very cool souvenir. If you still have the name of the GI who it came from, please make sure that info stays with the plaque if you pass it on, along with the story of his guarding the POWs. I know many will say it is just a story, but to me, the history that comes with the items is just as important as the item itself. Again, congratulations on the find, and if I were you, I would keep it as it will make a nice accessory to your uniform collection to show the badges they were adorned with.

      Drew,
That is a very nice souvenir board that the vet put together. I like that way more than the commonly encountered cardboard types that see periodically.
