Nothing wrong with the badge - its the finish that I don't like - it looks almost "too good"

The condition does look amazing john, the only wear I can see is to the tops of the eagles wings, the other thing that caught my eye.. I thought the eagles head should have more detail? Or am I wrong about that?

I've also been looking at this solid construction, non maker marked example in bronze, very much like the details it looks great, nicely toned. Can I have your opinion on this one too gents? Didn't want to start a new thread so added it here...

The second one you have posted is referred to as an "oval crimp" and has been attributed to Wilhelm Deumer.

Thankyou Ralph, very much appreciated.. what do you think of the finish on the first PAB ? I am drawn towards the second one the Deumer attributed item, simply because of the details of the tank and eagle seem finer..

These can be found with most of the finish left on them. Here is my example, your photos are a lot brighter than mine.

Yours looks absolutely mint, the detail to the eagles head looks amazing too.. I thought I could see the remnants of "43" on the one I posted.. and seeing yours confirms that. Have you been collecting long Ralph? Is that your only PAB, or do you have others ?

Also I notice yours has the same discolouration around the pin and catch..

                      Thank you!
That would be from the flux used to solder the hardware on.

I have been collecting for about 7 years. I have a few.
The first one I received was awarded to my father and passed on to me circa 1986.

Oh that's what it is, I was wondering what it could be! Ralph, you have a most superb collection there I am in awe of it! Congratulations.. I certainly know who I shall be asking for opinion on any other PAB or panzer items in the future. Are they all different grades and by different makers ?

                          Welsh,
I believe a rather large stash of silver and bronze FLL 43 PABs were found in Germany 10-15 years ago or so. As I recall, they all appeared unworn/unissued but came with varying degrees of finish left. To me, yours appear like one of those, though I'm away from home and can't take a look at the ones I bought to compare. I believe the one you posted is as detailed as the one Ralph posted, just the photographs don't show it as well.

Oh wow, I haven't heard about that Dale.. is that documented anywhere ? Or do you know anymore details about it? It would be great if you could post yours to compare with when you do get back home... yours was definitely from the stash that was found ?

I believe I've seen it talked about here on the forum, but I can't recall any details of the find. I only know that was a time when you could see a fair number of these for sale at shows and on websites. You might do a search of FLL 43 PABs here and see what you can find.
