    Opinions Wanted on Three Badges

    Hello,

I would appreciate opinions on these three badges: IAB, Black Wounded and SA sport. I've had them for a long time. IAB and Black Wounded came together.

    Thank you,

    Paul

        Thank You

Thank you for the positive opinions. Nicola.M thank you for the maker name. That is great to know. The IAB and black Wounded Badge came with this SS grouping, so I thought they would be good. It also came with a Rottenfuhrer sleeve rank patch (not pictured). Vet acquired. He picked the items up in a small village outside of Bastogne in January-45. One of the few times I've been able to put a "face" with a badge(s).

        Thanks,

        Paul

          Hi Paul

Excellent grouping. Regarding the badges, they all look original, as others have said, and in a condition that I like to see, not minty, but have a nicely aged appearance.

You will probably find a "93" mark on the reverse of the Black wound badge, in which case you will have a definite link or association to a manufacturer, unlike with the IAB.

          best regards
          Graeme

            Hi Paul,

Nice line up of badges, great little grouping.

As the others have said, the IAB is a nice unmarked Rettenmaier. The wound badge is RS&S based on the reverse hardware setup (might be marked 93 on the reverse in the middle of the badge).

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I did not say it was an unmarked Rettenmeier, I just commented that there was no marking on the IAB to give it a definite link to a manufacture, unlike the Wound badge. Just making it clear that I was not in the "others" group. The IAB may be made by Rettenmeier, but as I understood it there was not the definite link some like, although there is no doubting lots of "evidence" has been put forward.

Regarding the wound badge the "93" maker mark is often found just inside the helmet on ball hinge variants so please check there also if it is not where Tom pointed out.

              regards
              Graeme

                Thanks

Thanks everyone for the additional information. I will check the wounded badge for the maker #. I appreciate the assistance and example photo.

                  Gentlemen,

You are correct the wounded badge does have a 93 on the reverse.

                  Thanks again,

                  Paul
