    Dear Jan Arne,

This site has had many "first one in silver I have seen" badges in the past. I am not going to say more.
    Cheers, Frank

      Dear Jn Arne,

perhaps you should do a search here on the forum. Type in Afrikaheld
      ( Carstens name on militariaweb.com)

Mado is right! Stay away from this guy and do not buy anything.
I saw him sevreal times on small military shows and he has 90% fakes.

As Mado wrote before - he is the well known "Afrikaheld".

No, Carsten Baldes is one of the good guys.
Carsten Staegmeier is not one of my favourite dealers

Jan, here is a silver PAB that I bought from him on MILWEB a while back (before I got smart). Notice the finish on the badge and then the condition of the badge itsself. Compare the finish on this to his other silver items. Could have come from the same can.

The reverse speaks loud and clear.

                    Edited for reasons of insanity.

Actually the badge is a good one from a batch found in Poland. It has been refinished.

                        Hi Don......

......well......I can see that my eyes aren't doing me any justice this morning and that my learning curve certainly needs improvement. Sorry for the mistake.

No problem Bruce. What is scary is the quality of the finish. It looks good on a smaller photo, especially when taken from different angles.

On some examples suspected to be refinished, these little holes seen on Don´s PAB keep reappearing. I don´t know by what exactly they are caused. This is from the same source:
