    Sub at SOS

    Gents,

Just home from SOS - GREAT TIME! Anyway, here is one that is odd. This is a typical obverse of the unknown maker u-boat badge with a maker mark! Now, my though is it was added later to increase the value, which is silly since this is such a nice badge. You will also notice a repair to the hinge. But as I think we need to view all of these inconsistencies as a group I present it to you. Thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Marc

Marc, I have a similar one I was told is a known repro. Mine has a longer-necked bird, and is slightly vaulted. But same maker mark as yours, and possibly the same pin set-up...

        Herc,

It is not my badge - the dealer was nice enough to let me photo it. BUT, the badge is fine - IMO it is a good badge with the wrong marking. Anyone?

A very nice and strange badge Mark. The front, especially eagle looks exactly like the unknown maker. The reverse seems to be a classic Schwerin as the unknown maker used a barrel hinge and round wire catch like on Juncker Luft badges.

Herc, I nearly fell for one like yours as well. Philippe called it the "Jesus Christ Superstar" I believe.

My vote for these unknown maker badges in Juncker

              Best regards,

                Hi Marc,

We discused this badge before and if I'm not mistaken it was the exact same example. Don't remember where I saved the pics from but wasn't it for sale at one of the big German dealers? If it is the same badge a post war added mark would be the most logical explaination IMO.

                  Dear Philippe,

It IS the VERY same badge and that is soothing. Otherwise, we would have to spend some more thinking about this.
                  Cheers, Frank

Now that is down right funny!!! I am glad you guys have a memory that works like a computer chip. Perhaps one of us should purchase it just to get it off the market.

                    Best regards,
                    T
