          Hi Colin,

This is a reproduction. Lack of detailing on the wreath, asymmetrical swastika, bad feathering on the eagle, etc. You say the badge is die stamped, but I would say its a low quality casting.

            Hi Tom
Thanks for your take on the badge, the only thing I have to compare to is the one in Detlevs book, which shows a very large and good picture of the badge, IMO holding the 2 side by side there is more detail on my badge, strange that a casting should have more detail that what is supposed to be original, please look at the badge in the book if you have it.
            Cheers
            Colin

              Hi Colin,

I don't have Detlev's book with me at the moment, and I have never seen this type before. I am just going on your pics, which the badge looks very crude compared to originals I have seen and held. I will take a look at Detlev's book tonight, but will be very surprised if your badge is considered original .

Ok thanks for opinions.. I would still like to see more. Feet are no bigger than the feet of the one in the book (IMO). Anyone that actually owns a known good one? Edge sure does'nt look like the edge of those flak casts in the other thread (again IMO)

Wolffen I found your comments on this badge a bit odd, but thinking you are comparing this badge to a "normal" eagle glider badge I see what you say makes sense.
Please don't be telling anyone that their KC is fake because it does'nt shape up to your EK2.

Your badge not even close to regular glider badge witch it should be even if bigger IMO (I reserve the right to be proven wrong and enlighten).Never heard of the lager one. Except if it was made for Herr Goring we all know he liked things big. But don’t think a glider would glide with him inside lol . Personally I do not like it! That type of eagle claws are not present in any other medal type that I am aware off. They usually fallow same basic design for eagle’s extremities. The wings shape and feather pattern look like Wh/Lw mix
The feather at tips of the wing on each side are not the same pattern. One has lines in it other one does not. Of course I could be wrong but my hunch is it’s not good.

                        Larg eagle variant glider badge

                        Hello,

This badge might seem crude but that is just the way that original large eagle glider badges are.

I see more points that are good on this badge then things that are wrong.

                        Good points :

                        * Eagle has the correct look (as far as i can see from the pictures)
                        * The marks on the wings from the finishing proces do look very good.
                        * The wreath has the correct look.

That the swastika looks misshapen is not strange => these badges are handcrafted, therefore small anomaly's are nothing wrong.

I can understand that a person wants to compare this type of badge against a normal badge (such as a C.E.Juncker glider pilots badge), but that should not be done. (that is like comparing a Rolls Royce towards a Russian T-34)

As with what i can see from the pictures i give the badge a

However to be 100 % certain i need to see it in the flesh (Collin send me a mail iff this is of interest for you and we can work out teh details)

                        Cordial greetings,

This one looks like a casting, crude finish, rough detailing on the feathers etc, when compared to the one in Deltlev's book!

Well you see you learn something every day. It’s my right thinking caused by inflation of fakes everything that does not match standard I don’t like and red flags go off in my head. I humbly apologize for my hasty replay. Well I guess you got your self a nice badge there.

PS: Stijn can you tell me more about this badge plz! For what and why was larger size issued?
