frank & reif PAB pins/Poll

Im just wondering how common steel pins are compared to brass pins for frank&reif panzer badges,and wether or not type of metal used indicates period of manufacture.
I have seen both steel and brass,but im wondering which is more common.
So if you dont mind,just state what your pin is made of ,and estimated(early or late war)period of manufacture.

...mine has a steel pin and "?"-shaped steel catch and looks like a mid war badge.
