    Gold JFS CCC

    Hi

I was just surfing around on internet today and found this one on a dealers site.
Looks to good to be true for the price 2000 Euro.

    Any opinions?

        Hi Andy,

100% refinished! Notice the right crimping for the backplate, its been chopped off in order to remove the plate, refinish the badge then popped back in.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Not only is Thomas 100% correct, when have you EVER seen one where the finish hasn't been more or less absorbed?

JFS used a very good quality finezink for their CCCs, and also excellent finish that stands the test of time very well. That is why you find most bronze JFS clasps in very good condition today, 70+ years later. There is no reason why a gold JFS clasp would look different, and Merdock's example is evidence of this. However, the gold finish on the clasp that started this thread is incorrect for JFS, and also the backplate removal is a huge give-away of refinishing.
