    Bronze ASA for opinion

    Hello guys,
    what are your opinion about this strange ASA with a bronze finish?

      Not a bronze finish, there appears to be traces of the silver wash still slightly visible. Stewy

        And the badge is original?

          Hi Nicola,

          You have an interesting badge. In my opinion the badge is an original with a Schickle/Mayer design. I'm not sure about it having an original bronze finish. There appears to be some silver finish remaining on the hinge. Here is an example of a true bronze GAB in my collection. Not the same maker but a similar design.

              There is no bronze GABs.
              The badges shown by cornernotch have just lost all of it´s silver finish IMO

                the only known bronze gab is an Assmann (most likely production fault)
                I agree with Andy the above shown gabs are not bronze IMO, just polished or worn down to its basematerial.

                    I hope you are not referring to my exquisite GAB. That badge belonged to Philippe De Bock. He made a very solid case about the bronze finish on the badge. Maybe you should take a look at the posting on German Combat Awards.

                      The term "bronze" or "silver" refers to the grade with PKA's & ISA's. There never was a "bronze grade" of the ASA. I think that's more Alexander's point. Stewy

                        Not sure if we are reading the same posting. I think his point is just what he said.
                        This discussion hasn't been about if a bronze grade GAB was ever awarded. It's been about the finish.

                          After seeining the GCA tread I have to agree with you, yours would be an exclusive gab with the bronze finish, Imo a production fault like the few Assmans examples.
                          I have seen silver gabs polished to the basecoating so it looks like goldish/bronze finish. Imo the gab shown in the first post is one of them.
