    Hi Guys

    This Sonderabzeichen für das Niederkämpfen von Panzerkampfwagen in a nonmagnetic style I have never had before. Is it a good one?

                    Nice worn example, verdigris on the rear wheel shows there's copper in the material which explains why it's non-magnetic. I'd hazard a guess that this is from a relatively early batch before material shortages took hold.

                      Henrik,
                      There are three main 'types' with 14 recognised variants of the 'type 1', 8 of the 'type 2' and another 14 of the 'type 3'. The only ones with Tombak panzers like yours are the 'type 1' from Moriz Hausch. According to Dirk Schneider's book, yours could be a 'type 1.01' or '1.02' variant. Without more detailed photo's, it's difficult to say which. So far, the only known maker is Hausch.

                            Looking at your photo's it's clearly a 'type 1' badge. From Dirk's book, the only difference I can see between the type 1.01 and the 1.02 is that the 1.02 has light grey woollen backing (the 1.01 like yours, has no backing).
                            After looking at the book and your pictures again, the book states that both these types have iron back plates, while yours looks to be Zinc. Yours may therefore be a 'new' variant.
                            Types 1.03 to 1.05 have Zinc backing plates with Zinc or Iron (1.05) tanks, while 1.06 and 1.07 can be Zinc or Copper, both with Iron tanks. Is the backing plate magnetic?

                              I agree the back plate is zinc.
