          Hi Rik,

Olav is correct. It is an original IAB by Friedrich Linden of Lüdenscheid.

          Best regards,
          Tom

            Hi again Rik,

That type of catch is very common on the solid-backed, maker-marked Friedrich Linden IABs, like on the one pictured below. And Friedrich Linden sometimes used this same type of catch on their hollowback IABs, just like as seen on yours.

            Best regards,
            Tom

PS: Can we please see a picture of the document in its entirety? Thank you!

Nice and original FLL IAB and award document. Interesting to see the modification on the document where they pint inf- in front of "sturmabzeichen".
                  Kind regards,
                  Giel

                    Hi Rik

                    Nice badge

The catch was initially designed for being riveted to the solid version (it has a hole in the base of the catch for the rivet to fit), but is quite often found on these hollow types.
This is one of the few times where you can be sure of the correct time line of badge manufacture. That catch was designed to fit the solid badges (the shape of the catch base also fits into the recess on the solid badges) and when the hollow examples followed, they used the left over catch stocks.

                    best regards
                    Graeme

I can only agree, a fine original FLL.

Graeme makes a very good point with the production timeline, and it doesn't seem to jive with the document date of 1942. I would put this IAB in the very late war timeframe (1944-1945) based on the reverse hardware setup.

                      Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
