Thank you guys for the responses and most definitely won't be the last. The hardest part for me starting out, is every thing interests me Stahlhelms, badges, insignia, uniforms ect. Thanks again guys

Congrats on your first IAB purchase...you have selected (what I consider) the best of the Assault badges to collect.

As stated, your badge is a nice E. Ferd Wiedmann, Frankfurt am Main.

It has been my experience that the hardware set up most frequently encountered with this maker marked - vein pattern is the so-called lily pad hinge.
Yours, with the rectangular shaped base sheet metal hinge along with the typical flat stock catch and larger sized circular shaped catch plate is seen less often.
