Not sure if this is the right group for this but I thought I'd give it a try. Any thoughts on this piece.

      I once flew in a B-17, B-24, & a B-25. Next, I want to fire an 88 round.

        Hi,

the form of the handle is a dead giveaway... Common fake.

        Also the stamp is fantasy.

And to add insult to injury (and to confirm that it is bad), it is for sale on Germania International

So, this was apparently purchased from Snyder's Treasures and he wants more details on why it's a fake before issuing a refund. Does anyone have any other definitive details? Perhaps a photo of the real next to the fake for comparison?

Never heard of this dealer, but if he's asking for proof before he accepts a return, then he's a slime ball dealer, IMO.

                        Hi,

those types of fake stamps are said to come from the East of Europe, maybe Poland (nothing against our polish friends if it is not true). But some may be done in the US too, check below...

They are flooding every single webstores and auction websites for years.

The handle is very easy to spot on.

You can find original stamps in SS Solbücher, but i'm not even sure that a "generic" stamp similar to this one exist.

More SS stamps currently for sale :

                        http://www.ioffer.com/c/WW-II-%28193.../hitler+stamps

especially this one (the guy is proposing almost everything on stamp) :

                        http://www.ioffer.com/i/leibstandart...seal-614746844

You can also buy "better" repros here :

                        See You

                        Vince

PS : real SS stamps are quite rare and they don't have this type of long handle...
