SOS Additions - IABs, PABs & GABs oh-my

    Hi guys,

Just fresh back from the SOS in Louisville and I have to say it was one of my best shows! I was able to find several nice Heer badges, many of them uncommon variants that I have been searching awhile for. Nice feeling to be able to fill a few holes in the collection, hope you guys like em.

First up is a solid GWL. Not the rarest IAB around, but its an upgrade from the one I currently have. Nice amount of silver finish remaining and I really like the look of the tigerstripe fade pattern on the reverse. Textbook reverse hardware, with unfinished brass-colored hingepin; something I always like to see with any GWL badge.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Next up is an unmarked Bronze SHuCo. I didn't have this variant, and now that I am back at home and have my files in front of me, I cannot find another example like it. The obverse design seems to match the Hollow Steel Silver examples, but haven't seen one in bronze nor in sold zink. Anyone else have one of these?

I was able to pick up these two IABs at the show as well. I actually purchased them before hand and they were delivered to me at the show (thanks again Sander!). The first is a copper-plated later-war Juncker. What is interesting about this one is the circular depression under the hinge. It is completely covered in silver finish so was like that leaving the factory. My only guess is that perhaps Juncker wanted to make a circular depression for the catch (like we see on their CCCs), but they had the IAB upside down and drilled it out on the wrong side of the IAB. Who knows, but an interesting example for sure.

The 2nd is an unmarked B&NL in absolutely pristine condition. This is an upgrade for me, and I doubt I will be able to upgrade this one, its just completely mint and unworn. The finish is so shiney that it creates a weird light effect on the scanner! Of particular note is the unfinished hinge, pin and catch, exactly how I like to see my B&NL badges and a sign of early production IMO.

Last but not least is this little beauty I stumbled upon. A nicely worn and patinated early Nickel Silver Juncker PAB. Its a finishless example and thought to be the earliest type of PAB to be awarded.

Amazingly enough, it was sitting on a table surrounded by all fake badges. This guy had numbered PABs & GABs, Antipartisan badges in Gold, Knights Crosses, etc. All high end stuff, but it was all 100% fake! So when I saw this lowly PAB sitting in there, I really did a double take and couldn't believe what I was seeing. The proverbial diamond in the rough. Its finds like this that really make the hobby fun and why doing your homework pays off!

Hope you guys enjoy this one as much as I do

                    Very nice haul Tom...

My favorite is the attributed solid Juncker or Slim Stalk with the circular cut out for the hinge. I have only seen a couple of these.

Hopefully, I can add one someday.

                    Best Regards, fischer

                          Hi Tom

That B&NL is an absolute killer badge, never saw them in that condition before.

                          Nice SOS line up
                          Kind regards,
