H&CL & L/53 Marked CCC in Bronze - Never Seen One Before in Hand - Woodwork Find

Had heard of them, seen photos on WAF, but never held one in hand until this came out of the woodwork. Lots of finish left, and I agree with opinions, that is one ugly bird sitting on top.

The catch is pushed down some, so the pin won't open. So, these are the best maker mark photos I can do. Red arrow points to the L/53 mark.

        Hi Jeff,

Lucky you!! You stumbled upon the holy grail of CCC collectors and its in really great condition. Complete with original backplate and yes, they do have an ugly bird but their rarity more than make up for the aesthetics. A keeper for sure, congrats.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Hey, wait a minute! As Thomas Jefferson said, "I am a lucky man. The harder I work, the luckier I become". Or something like that when it comes to "luck".

Thanks guys. See you at SOS.

Here are a couple more photos of the nice finish on the obverse

Hey Jeff....I knew I dropped that somewhere....thanks for finding it for me..I'll come around an fetch it from you at the SOS. Seriously an excellent CCC I won't be coming to the SOS....got to save my money for the trip over to England for my son's wedding then a visit to my old stomping grounds in Germany and Luxembourg to see friends and maybe bring some TR souvenirs back with me.

Just like very old millionaires : that's when ugliness becomes beautiful. Congrats for this unexpected encounter !
