IAB in Bronze " C. E. Junker , Berlin "

Hi Guys !
I need your opinion about this IAB . I have never seen a IAB from C. E. Junker , Berlin , with maker marked .

Dear Lillegutt,

I have also never seen that type. Apart from that, at least three things seem strage to me:

-the hinge does not speak "Juncker" to me at all, not does the catch, rather JFS but not even that.

-the mark seems to be REALLY unusual for Juncker

-as a German, I would say it is nearly impossible to accept a maker´s mark that has a fullstop between the maker´s last name and the city name. That does not make ANY sense at all in the German language. There is no abbrevation before the full stop. The full stop is just that because it is positioned at the bottom line, if positioned in middle height it could be a "seperator" but that is not the case. I do not believe somebody would design his maker´s mark that way.

All of the above say fake in my opinion.

Hi Frank !
Thanks ! I argee , I also think that the badge was a fake when I saw it . Makers mark is really large , have never seen a Junker makers mark like that earlier . And like you say , hinge and catch looks like JFS . I have never seen a Junker with " ball - hinge " .
I skip the badge . Get pics. from a dealer in England , have done a lot of purchase from him earlier , but this is the first time I have seen a badge , that I think is a fake .
He had some nice panserbadges , I catch this insted .

Interesting. Jamie Cross has one pictured in his "Combat Awards" book that looks the same...except his shows a barrel-hinge rather than the ball-hinge. I compared this badge to both the JFS and RSS IABs which both use that large flat catch. The badge design is different from both of those badges.

Is the one in Cross´ book exactly the same apart from the hinge, i.e. with the mark?

Yep. As far as I can tell it is identical. Same badge design, mark and catch AND cut-out swaz. Only the hinge is different. Wish I had a scanner.

I will catch the bagde , dealer give lifetime quarantee and return , and I have done a lot of purchases with him , so that is not any problem . I will come back with more info when I get the badge . I also get a email from the dealer , and he had a badge like this one fore about 5 years ago .

.....Have a look on the estand. Mgidhagen is offering to sell a silver IAB with the exact same markings.....that now makes for two of them.

I don't like these. Not only have I ever seen an attachment mechanism like this on combat badges, but the Juncker firm never marked its badges like this. I'll pass on this type of badge.

The Firm of Juncker Berlin never made badges of this quality. This IAB appear on the collectors market since the last 2-3 years. Have a look at the catch and the hinge, they're wrong for period pieces.

Here are scans that appear in Jamie cross' book. The book was published in March 1998. I have never seen another up until this week on this thread...now two more appear. Interesting that all 3 badges have different hinges.
