        Dear Lillegutt,

Your two Frank & Reif PABs are of the second type I was talking about, much like Mike Pinkus´ badge shown on his website. Lorenzo´s and mine are of the "other" or first type. My classification of first or second type does not hold any chronological meaning though. I do not know which type was really first. Both seem to be ok though and only the back dies are different.

Finish is usually better on your type, so these might be the first ones. Look at the thread above your post given by member C&A. That is also one of your type.

        Cheers, Frank H.

How do either versions compare to the fake F&R tank badges? Does anyone have a picture of a fake one we can compare to?

That doesn´t seem to be a problem, Lillegutt! Both don´t look fake to me.

@Mark: I have no pics of a fake Frank & Reif PAB in my files, I do not know if it exists.

              Cheers, Frank H.

I have pictures of a Frank & Reif PAB that I am not 100% sure is real on my hard drive, but I don't know how to link the pictures.

                  Frank & Reif PABs

                  Hi Frank !
Like you , I mean both this is originals . But it is the first time I have this type ( first type ? ) with round plate under the catch .
Look like it had the same plate that on your PAB .

Here is a fake F&R PAB I got off Ebay several years ago. It is 100% lead. Weighs in at 38.9 gms. compared to 26.3 gms. for the zinc one I posted above. These lead badges are getting hard to find!!

Very convincing wear on the pin and the catch, Lorenzo! Do you wear this one on your pyjamas?

That one looks fine to me as well. Same details, right eagle, tank, grass/rock etc.

On the Wehrmacht tech. page it listed the Frank & Reif weight at 32.6 and 33.5 gms.

                                Does the F & R weight vary?

My badge weighed 36.1 gms. And measured 60mm by 42mm.
