    Pillow-Crimp IAB

    Hi guys,

Here is a pillow-crimp Infantry Assault Badge that I got at this weekend's OVMS Show. The catch plate on this one is atop the crimp rather than set down inside it.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Nice one Tom. Typical to see these later pillow crimp with the catch soldered on.
            Kind regards,
            Giel

                Hi Tom,

Nice pickup indeed. Not the first maker to have reverted back to soldering-on their hardware after the crimper failed, we see that on quite a few other later-war makers like FLL, H&CL, etc. I think our friend Tenten also has one of these pillow-crimp IABs with soldered on catch like yours. Nice variant addition.

                Tom
If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                  Thanks, Tom.

Here is another "pillow crimp" Infantry Assault Badge from my collection. This example has the proper catch plate crimp.

                  Best regards,

Here is another, this time in the Bronze grade; much harder to track down.

                          Hi Tom,

Thanks for posting those two nice examples. I especially like that bronze one since they are very hard to come by as you mentioned. I've never had a bronze pillow crimp IAB in my collection.

                          Best regards,
                          Tom

                            Nice find Tom,

Great badges in this thread Bronze are hard to find.

The new badge you have certainly looks like it has the same catch and catch plate as the "normally" found crimped in ones. I don't recall seeing too many of the "pillow crimp" with this soldered set up.

Your side by side shots are excellent. When you get a moment it would be nice if you could post a side by side of the right pic in post #4 and the left pic in post # 10, so we see the crimped and soldered catches together.

                            best regards
                            Graeme

                              Hi Graeme,

Thanks for the comments and consider it done.
