    IAB L/51 E. Ferdinand Wiedmann

    Hi guys.
Just wanted to show this IAB I've had for a couple of years.
I believe it is a faded Silver badge as I can see some traces of Silver in the hinge/catch area.
I'm not sure if Wiedmann ever made a bronce version of the L/51 IAB?

    Best regards
    Olav

You're correct this is a silver L/51, as far as I know there was a bronze variant. But the are hard to find. Stewy

      Hi Olav,

Very nice original Wiedmann with some great patina on it. These L/51-marked examples are pretty hard to come by, took me quite a while to find mine.

If there is a bronze L/51-marked variant, I have never seen it. I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't exist, but must be pretty rare as I don't think I have ever seen one posted before.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

I agree, hopefully there will be discovered a bronze version some day.

          Hi Olav

I think your example looks very nice.

In my opinion your badge had a quality thick finish. Over time it has bubbled and shows great character.

          regards
          Graeme

Never really realized it but I have indeed never saw a bronze L/51 before!

That being said, your silver one is really nice Olav. Looks like it remains in excellent condition but just is covered with a ton of patina!
              Kind regards,
              Giel

                Thanks Giel
Yes, the lack of an bronze example is almost a little mystery, hopefully there are some out there just waiting to be found.

                Best regards
                Olav
