bought this many years ago from Army vet who said he obtained it at a flea market in Germany along w/an early SA dagger. May have been refinished...is this a good or bad piece?...Thanks,Robert

Is that hinge cast in the badge?
    Kind regards,

The badge itself looks OK, but I too am curious about the hinge. Also the catch doesn't look exactly right for this maker either, so I think posting some angled shots of both the hinge and catch would tell us a little more.

The silver finish also looks questionable to me, and probably refinished judging by the way it is flaking off on the reverse.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
