    L/56 iab

    Hi guys,

I bought this L/56 Infantry Assault Badge today from a friend/neighbor of mine. It has been a long time since I've had a marked L/56 in my collection, so I was pleased to get this one. I really do not see these marked L/56s very often. The last one I owned was about 10 years ago. I think I'll keep this one for a while.

    Best regards,
    Tom

Nice addition Tom, looks great with alot of original silver finish remaining.

Much rarer to find than the unmarked F&BLs. Here is mine, with the flatwire catch compared to your round wire.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Nice one, Tom. Thanks for responding. I never had a marked L/56 variation with a flat wire catch.

Here is an unmarked L/56 I have with a crimped hardware setup. These are hefty badges. This unmarked one weighs 39.0 grams. My marked L/56 badge weighs 38.3 grams.

          Best regards,
          Tom

            Hi Tom

            Very nice examples...

I find the F&BL Design - crimped version interesting in that the hardware attachment method must have failed and they returned to soldering the set up to the reverse.

Here is a factory modification I have with the hinge crimp flaps roughly sanded away and the hinge soldered inside the recess.

            Best Regards, fischer
