          Hi There,

I did have a guy attempt to sell me the following U Boat Frontspange.

Note that it does not have a swastica but it does have the eagle.

I checked a document called 'Bekanntmachungen - Der Bundesminister des Innern' which holds the specification of all the 1957 awards and this particular award should not have the eagle on it but consist of a plain wreath with swords at the 6 o'clock position.

I think that the award below was a fake 1939-1945 item with the swastica removed and then passed off as a 1957 version.

          Regards ...

Hagwalther, you are very right about fakes having the swastica removed and passed as 57ers. I have noticed that. You have to be careful, especially buying the so called 1957 awards from ebay. The 1957 awards document is a very good guideline to identify legit awards.

                      Regards

                      Henri

                        Hello

                        the denazifying doesn`t make a piece a 57er!

So there are denazified originals and there are denazified copies of wartime pieces.

But there are NO fake 57er. And that is very easy to explain.

By law everyone is allowed to make 57er awards. You don`t need any permissions for it. So when everyone is allowed to produce 57er there can`t be any fakes.

                          Yes, it's not fake - it's "hand-made" copys.

                            Hi Henri,

                            Hope you are keeping well.

The photocopy of the book you sold me being: 'Bekanntmachungen - Der Bundesminister des Innern' has paid for itself already and is most interesting.

I only wish I could understand German and get more out of it.

                            All the best ...

Yes the book is a very good reference and I am glad I came across it and been able to share.

I have finally moved house, so once again I can visit here a bit more often!!
