Hello, just bought this case from a vet, inside was a 2nd class iron cross, and the eagle was attached to it, he said he found it in a vacant home. I have no idea what goes in it. thanks david

Outside it looks like a case for an Iron Cross 2nd. class from WW1 I had once. Inside it looks like a case for a pocket watch ...

        Hi David,

Can we have some plan view pic's please and the dimensions.....have you tried at all to see if the base will fall out don't force it or try it's no matter.

Well I'd say the Civil/political guy's would be best looking at this one in all honesty.

Why political? Isn´t the eagle just a pin that was stuck into the top lid, with possibly no real connection to the case itself?
          Cheers, Frank

                    Frank,

The eagle has nothing to do with my thoughts (I couldn't even tell you if it were a genuine eagle ?), I'd consider this a pre war case it's not unlike in similar design and outer cover pattern to some earlier Honour Cross box types.(which it is not of course)

This is unlike any military award or qualification box pre or wartime I'm aware of, even private purchase.

I think this is a specific designed box for a certain medal, civil or the sort....not military 1939-45 nor Imperial of the period 1914-18...this is a 1930's box for something.

                    Maybe I'm wrong ?

interesting and nice case, but I think is around '30. Eagle is originally into?
