    CCC in Bronce with blue plate Peekhaus

    Hello Gentlemen,

    I would like to sell this CCC from Peekhaus. Therefore I would like to have it check and would like to have the actual collector´s price/value for that piece.

    To my opinion the clasp is war period. Could the plate be reattached? Even to war time period?

      Looks original to me but I can see some extra punch mark to secure the backplate better maybe.

        Hi Ralle,

        I agree with Andy, the clasp itself is a fine original but the backplate is very questionable. The size doesn't look right, the fit is odd and all the marks around it are also very suspicious. The crimping system used by this maker was typically very, very good so the fact that it is so sloppy doesn't seem to jive and may suggest its a replacement. Can you post a few cloesups of the backplate area? That might help.

        The blue color looks correct, so I am not sure its a replacement but its suspicious for sure.

              Hi Ralle,

              Thanks for the additional pics, I think they show that the plate is completely original and correct. But I think it must have been removed at some point, for some reason. I seriously doubt it could have fallen out given the excellent method of crimping this maker typically used so I have to think it was deliberately removed for some reason. The condition of the plate (with is scratched finish and dents) also supports the notion it was removed at some point and then it was attempted to be put back in place and held in there with the multiple little round dot punches. The fact that they needed 15 or so dot punches just goes to show how good the original crimping was and there is no way the plate would just fall out on its own. There was no way to fit the plate back in under the original crimps so new ones had to be made.

              Maybe the original recipient removed the plate as he thought it would look better on the uniform (like a cut-out grass PAB), and then put the plate back in at some point later on. That would be the only plausible reason I can think of.
