    PM Pab???

    Hi Guys

I have seen this rather intriguing badge which I'm fairly certain is a copy but has some interesting aspects to it.

It is Schickle/ Mayer design but with a very nicely done Meybauer setup right down to the typical filing markes on the pin; round wire catch and the PM stamp compares very favourably with the one used on Luft awards...

Anyone seen anything like this before? Perhaps it's an older copy that I missed.

    Many thanks

    Patrick

      Patrick,
To me it is a very nicely done cast fake. The hardware on the reverse reminds me of the same hardware found on so many of the just as nicely done fake Spain Crosses.

        Hi Patrick,

Certainly an interesting one, and I can see why you wanted to post it, with the PM mark and "Meybauer" pin. Looks also to be made from a tombak-like alloy rather than zinc. All in all though I agree that its nothing more than a nicely made fake and probably put together by someone who takes an interest in our forensic discussions. Will need to be on the lookout for more types of these in the future I should think.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

It's crap for sure. A new fake that is starting to find its way into some of the military auctions: a convenient way for the unscrupulous to anonymously dump their fakes onto the unsuspecting.

I've seen several of these already. I'm sure we will start to see them on a regular basis at the MAX and SOS.

          Here is another one.

          Best regards,
          Tom

Tom, thanks for posting this other one, very interesting. Not one I have seen before but will certainly keep my eyes open at the next shows for this one.
