    Original Hermann Aurich PAB?

    Hi,

While on Holiday to Hamburg, I just bought this PAB (Panzerkampfabzeichen).
Do you think it is ok? It Looks ok to me, but this is my first PAB and I am affraid it might be a very good replica. Could you please help me out?
Unfortunately I am on Holiday and have very little access to Internet, so I might not respond very fast (sorry for that).

Best Regards and thank you for your time and effort, Maarten

I believe this one is a copy. While not clear enough in your photos, this is the part you need to compare.

Sorry. More pics will not make this one good.

                    Hi Maarten,

Sorry, I can only agree with the others, this one is a clear fake. The fakers like to use this obverse design on many fakes, with different maker marks.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

                      Hi,

Thank you all so much for helping me out.
It gave me a very distasteful Feeling, I thought I had bought a real beauty.
Neverthelees I am happy to know the truth.
I have phoned the seller and I can come by tomorrow morning to discuss the badge. I have always been on very good terms with the seller.
He is a very kind man and not out on selling fakes.

I can see that at the back, the head of the eagle Looks disformed.
Are there any other clearly visible things that really make this one bad?
Probably I have to point this out tomorrow.

                      Best Regards, Maarten

The details of the hinge as I posted. It must be sheet metal and crimped in, not cast. Also, look for the horizontal lines on the hinge back plate.
                        Ralph.

                          Hi Ralph,

Thank you very much. So the catch should not have been cast (molded?)

                          https://www.google.de/search?q=cast+...ed=0CAYQ_AUoAQ

but instead crimped in (constructed with Tools)

                          https://www.google.de/search?q=crimp...imped+in+metal

Short question does the Price guide of Detlev Niemann contain the correct crimped in hinge set up. I know the seller has this book in his shop. It would then be easy to Point out. Unfortunately I only have the pocket Edition with me on Holiday.

                          Very Kind Regards, Maarten

P.S. perhaps important to note for collector community: the badge I have here has not got the horizontal lines. Perhaps it is a modified fake.

I was talking about the hinge.
The catch should be made of round wire formed in this shape "?" and then crimped in as well.
                            Ralph.
