Legion Condor Panzer Badge

I only rarely venture into this area of the forum, being an SA collector, but wanted to get some opinions about this Legion Condor Panzer badge. I've searched this forum as well as a few others, and found similar examples but without a definite 'ja' or 'nein' (or 'si' or 'no'). Is this pattern considered pre-45?

It is a different strike than so called second type LCTB, original second type badge has dots design on leaves.

Hi Guys,

I have some concerns about that badge. The reverse setup makes it seem like what used to be called the "Wiedmann-like" (although the hardware is not the type used by Wiedmann and as discussed previously in this thread is more aptly named "S&L-like").

But on closer examination the badge itself is closer to the post-war Souval design than to the "S&L-like" badges that are generally presumed to be WW2-era. I don't know why it has that hardware though.

Here are some comparisons. The first shows the wreath boxed in red compared with several post-war Souvals and several accepted "S&L-like" LCTBs with the round-wire catch setup - clearly a better match to Souval.

The second shows the reverse of the skull. The Souvals are thinner than the "S&L-like" so the dotted suture lines are much more visible on the reverse, and the cutout to the right of the skull is different.

So to me, despite the reverse hardware, this is more likely a Souval product, although when it was produced is another question.
