    Cupal Juncker PAB

    Hi guys, here is some PAB eye candy. It came from the estate of an English vet with a nice silver DK and Panzer insignia.
    Rare is a term much used in this hobby but I think this one ticks that box
    I could only find a couple of examples when researching.

          Hi Greg,

          Very nice find, extremely rare PAB you have there as you well know. As I mentioned in my email, I feel this is a silver grade that has had all its finish removed down to the bare Copper and Aluminum, but still a very desirable badge that I would have snapped up as well had I found it.

                  Hi Tom, I'm interested in how this would or could be done, could it happen via the elements or would it be from something else. It didn't come from a collector, it came with some top drawer items which were untouched.

                    I concur on all accounts here. I have a cupal GAB in the same condition that we know started its life as silver plated.

                        Here is one of mine, you can see how thin the silver plating is. It could be polished off pretty easily IMO, or dipping it in a chemical could also remove it.

                          Thanks Tom, so what we have is an original with intact hardware that was silver and now has the copper coating showing.

                            Not sure what you mean, but this PAB has fine and textbook hardware IMO. There is no repair or anything if that is what you are worried about, the reason you see all the solder around the hinge and catch is because the original silver finish has been removed revealing it. Normally this would be covered with the finish, so that is why you are seeing it but its perfectly fine and nothing to worry about. Other than the lack of any finish, this one is a textbook example and one any PAB collector would love to own.
