Gendarmerie Alpinist badge, Need Help !!

    Gendarmerie Alpinist badge 1

    Hi guys,

I have a police Alpinist badge, I believe absolutely original. saw a similar badge for Weitze, but think that the badge at Weitze is not original. What is your opinion on this piece here?

The one which Weitze has for sale is 100% original.

Unfortunately the one you have posted is a fake.

              Stan, I'm skeptical also.

Please post some facts to support your conclusion that this is a fake.

                Hi guys,

Here is the one from Weitze's site, for comparison sake.

I tend to agree with Stan here, the quality of the badge in this thread is quite poor compared with the one on Weitze's site. Also the rivets and maker mark just look modern to me.

Who is to say that after the March 1938 union, that more of these badges were needed, and a change in construction and maker mark was not done by Klein?

Why would the reproducer go to the extra expense in labor and materials to create a fake needing rivets, when the "original" had none?

                    What are "modern rivets?"

Dagger's badge has significant useage and wear.

                    Was it faked?

                    Where are all the others?

I'm still not convinced based on the lack of real evidence that the badge in question is a reproduction.

Is that the best you can do guys?

                      Gary,

The badge posted for evaluation is 100% fake. A search on WAF will show you several originals including two from my own collection.

Additionally there have been two very informative articles written in Militaria Magazine 5/2000 and 1/2010.

I could go on but the evidence is there if you look for it.

gery, I agree with you and agree with you 100%. I think the badge at Weize is falsch.Wenn it would be a fake, there would be very many of them. You can do faking, but not these signs of wear. Thank you for your opinion.

Total Crap, the first one is total Crap and that one from Weitze not much better. Here for comparing a real one.
