L/13 Marked IAB

Hi Harry,
Already wondered when the badge would arrive
Like I told you I have never seen an IAB marked L/13.
When looking at the pics you posted there are a few things that worry me although I'm not familiar with pillow crimp copies.
1. Certainly when looked upon from the reverse the contours of this badge look very soft.
2. The cut between K98 and swas is much bigger than on other pilow crimps.
3. There doesn't seem to be any stipling on the oakleaves
4. What I can see of the way the pin's pressure foot is bend worries me a lot.
5. The eagles breast feathering also isn't very sharp.
Here is my pillow crimp to compare it to.

I am with Philippe and Master3477 on this one. There seems to be missing details on it when compared to the other ones that is posted, for example the bolthead on Harrys K98, leafstiplings that Philippe already has mentioned and the gunsling to mention some, even the crimp ins look like a mess. In my mind this L/13 seems to be a castcopy.
Could we have the weight and measurements of your Harry if possible?Last edited by Hans N; 12-28-2004, 07:24 AM.Regards

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Thanks for all the input and feedback guys! I agree with the comments posted for the most part. There is not a lot of sharp detail in many areas. However, regarding the stipling in the leaves, I have compare this badge to some other that I have, and it compares favorably in that area. Sorry, I have not had time to take measurements yet. This is not a zincer (you probably knew that).
I can send the badge back with no problem, but I am confused on why we have seen no others like it, original or repro. I am almost inclined to keep it as an oddity.HC

I guess there always has to be a first one of everything. Remember my lightweight Alu GAB with copper collored reverse. For about 6 months it lay in my collection and was my pride and joy. I was convinced I found the holly grail of GAB's. All of a sudden more of these badges in many disguises start to pop up and certainly in Germany you see more and more of them.
Well maybe you also discovered a new type of copie and thanks to you we will look more carefully at every pillow crimp IAB that crosses or paths from now on.
