This looks to be a variation of the one Tom Y posted. Different set up, but clearly the same obverse design.

If you do a search on "4 rivet fake", I am sure you will find a few more of these to compare.

    regards
    Graeme

      Hi Tom,

I'm sorry, but my suspicions were correct. Your badge is a well-known fake. Here is another fake that is identical to yours:

        Man are you guys good,
Thanks Graeme for your help and Thanks Tom for the pic of the fake.

My post (Graeme) has none of the crosshatching in or out of the clamshell and has noticeable wear to the point of the clamshell clasp. I t also has a different lug for the attachment.
Am I dreaming or, did I make a good strike??
        Tom

The thread linked below shows another screwback fake as well as the "4-rivet" fake that Graeme mentioned. These fakes were all made using the same obverse die.

            Thanks Tom & Graeme ,
Bought it in a lot, so it didn't cost much anyway.
Thanks for sharing your expertise and caring with your fellow collectors.
I can tell I am going to learn a lot here.

            Thanks,
            Tom

Guess all was not wrong with the lot purchase, sold the rank pips for 400 and still have the worthless IAB and a DAF Badge, yet to be discerned.
              Thanks for your help,
              Tom
