A Fine original Wurster GAB. Not sure about the paint, could be wartime done but also could have been done postwar by kids or whoever. Impossible to know for sure when and why.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Nice original made by Karl Wurster, Markneukirchen. 5 minutes in Acetone, and this thing looks like new (ok, almost)...

As Tom and Nordmark state....an original Wurster GAB. Also agree that this badge probably should undergo paint removal. The general rule of 'do not clean badges', while an important general principle, has occasional exceptions, and this might be one such exception.

            Bonsoir David; belle GAB!

Are you sure its red paint? I have seen a number of pieces with red residue over the years and bought a few myself its always red wax, not red paint. According to a dealer site which currently has one of these for sale now and I quote ...

"There is some red wax residue on the swastika where it had been covered for a period of time as per current German laws. The wax should clean off."

I was told I was full of ... on another forum where one of these badges with red residue showed up and told they never did that but just make sure you know what you are dealing with before hand

            Regards

            JC
