He is joking in some form or another.

The maker is as stated by Blued. "Deumer attributed".

Ok that is what I thought but I didn't understand the comment.

            Thanks,

Trying to attach badge to a manufacturer by the hardware is a waste of time. It has been ably demonstrated that manufacturers throughout the Third Reich ordered hardware from 3rd parties. I will also mention that we don't really know for sure if Deumer ordered their hardware from a third party, but it is certainly possible that they did so. Just something to think keep in mind.

I partly agree with you. Using the hardware alone can be tricky. But the way some experts in the field searching after maker-links is a little bit more complicated then just compare the pin , hinge and catch. They are so familiar with all the different types in all kind of branches like Heer Kriegsmarine and luftwaffe, that they see certain patterns. They use maker marked badges from other branches togheter with all kind of factors to come to their conclusion. The hardware story is only one piece of the puzzle.

Win good point that we cannot rely on one or two points alone to make an ID.

Hopefully soon my book will arrive and I can spend even more money on GAB's.

                  Hi Wim,

I understand, and have been aware of this for quite awhile. Your point is valid, and it has certainly been worthwhile for you to mention it.

AGREE 100% Wim. Although reverse hardware is often an important factor, it shouldn't be used to make a maker connection all by itself.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
