GAB... Mayer? Also GAB book recommendation (in English)

Would you guys say this is a Mayer GAB?
I am guessing from the type of needle-catch... Let's see if I am correct!

Also, what is the best book to recommend on GAB's? (In English please)

    Thanks in advance,
    -Brian

Frank Heukemes' book is the best one out there. It started the reference book format. There are a few errors in it, but not a big deal. What's good about it is, he did good research and captured all the makers and variants. Plus show how he linked patterns with makers. Definitely worth it!

      Oh. And it's a Deumer.

I also forgot to mention he has some listed as unknown that are now attributed to makers.

        Ah ha!
Comparing to a Deumer IAB I can see the same catch. It is similar to a Mayer but I do see the difference and the eagle now certainly looks the Deumer part.

Thanks for the recommendation on the book I'll be sure to pick one up!

Blued is correct on both counts. Your badge is a Deumer and you want the book by Frank Heukemes.

Thank you guys.... Is there a reason these books are $300+ on Amazon and about $100 from Diedrich Maerz directly?? They are the same book, correct??

            Thanks,
            -Brian

                        Hi Brian......

.....Nice GAB. However, it is attributed to Deumer. If you feel comfortable to call it a Deumer made badge, then by all means do so. However, perhaps not everyone would agree when it comes time to resell.

Trying to attach badge to a manufacturer by the hardware is a waste of time. It has been ably demonstrated that manufacturers throughout the Third Reich ordered hardware from 3rd parties. I will also mention that we don't really know for sure if Deumer ordered their hardware from a third party, but it is certainly possible that they did so. Just something to think keep in mind.

I really would like to know where that GAB-Book from Frank is on my website?!

But here is what really is true: I have the rights to do a revised edition (upgraded with the help of some mebers here) of the General Assault Badge book, but that is something for 2016 or so.
If you need the "old" book right now, you need to spend the amount people are asking for a book out of print.

no need to apologize! $ 99.95 is a really great price for that book!
