Why most Combat Badges are not PKZ# marked?

A stupid but basic question through up my mind yesterday.....
Why most of combat badges (ISA ASA PKA etc) are always not PKZ number marked on the back or pin? but only full company name, logo or LDO series marking?


Is there an exist article or thread for reference ?

thanks for your comments,
but I think most TR badge collects knew that PKZ was abbreviated from "Prasidialkanzlei" ? PKZ#, e.g. like #26 to B.H Mayer or #4 to S & Luck, etc.

and Back to my question those maker numbers are not existed on combat badges(ISA, ASA, PKA etc.) but manufacturer's name or LOGO, or LDO series numbers. how come they are not following marking like EK2 or KVK2 with PKZ number marking?

Hi Guys,

I think that's sort of like asking why they didn't wrap all combat badges in red and white ribbon. It simply wasn't required for combat badges. There are no known regulations requiring it and and so the badges weren't marked. There's no reason to go to extra effort and labour to stamp a PK number into badges ordered by the Wehrmacht.

Sure it was required later by the PK for the higher Orders and wound badges, but never for the lowly combat badge for which the Heer and Kriegsmarine would place their own orders. For KM badges, the rare time you see a PK number on a badge is when it's stamped into the same pin stock that was used on an EK or KVK.

Hi Eric,

until 1944 the production of combat badges wasn't under direct control of the PKZ itself, so they didn't controlled if and how they were marked and how they looked.

We only see a few markings because whoever was responsible for the combat badges didn't care in a marking system for them.
