    2 PAB's for Review

I am considering adding another PAB to my collection, so I wanted to have these looked at.

    The first one:

    The second:

The first looked ok to me. I was not sure about the pin on the second PAB.

Both look OK, the first is an unmarked Frank & Reif with no finish left. The 2nd one is an S&L with wartime-compatible hardware. With S&L its always hard to draw a line between wartime and postwar, but this one is typically considered wartime.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

That S&L one sure is making the rounds; I used to have that one, and I think at least two other members here have owned it!

I agree with Tom and Greg in that they are both good. Keep in mind that both of these examples are common as dirt so to speak. If you want to add a example to your collection try for something less common and not zinc.

            Tom,
For every example as the one you show there are ten plus others that look like crap as they fade away to "relic" condition. Indeed there are many nice examples of zinc badges but for the most part they will not stand the test of time and will eventually look like the two examples posted for input. Yet, sellers ask absurd prices for most common of badges in zinc. Good luck with that down the line....
