            Thanks for the additional pic. This example is purportedly a Steinhauer & Luck variation and has the barrel hinge hardware.

            The catch plate on this one is interesting.
            Normally, these are oblong shaped like the example I show but this one seems to have been shortened for some reason.

            Has anyone else seen this style catch plate in use on these before?

              I would also consider giving this one a light coating of Vaseline...looks like you have some white residue forming on the eagles beak area.

                I can only agree with Don, looks to be an original S&L IAB. I am scratching my head about the catchplate though, at first I thought it was a repair, but the closeups don't really show any signs of this. Looks original to the badge, and the catch itself looks correct for S&L. So I have to think the plate is original, and was just cut down as Don says for some reason. I have never seen another like it, one for the file to see if any others turn up in the future.
