I'm inclined to believe the badge in the photo is, as someone already pointed out, a civilian bergführer badge. The largest-sized AV year-member pin I've seen is 35 cm in diameter; the one in the photo looks twice that size. The AV badges are usually worn on the hat. (in my collection I have two for 60 years and one for 70 years). I joined the Ehrwald section of OeAV in 1978 while assigned to Garmisch (it was a short cross-border drive).
