GAB Unknown #7 - Interesting variant

    Hi guys,

Wanted to show this interesting variant of the Unknown Maker #7 GABs (1.24 in the GAB book). This is the first time I am seeing one of these with an oval-shaped sheetmetal hinge; typically they have the small, rectangular shaped hinge. Anyone ever seen another?

Everything else looks textbook on it, including the left-facing catch so I am confident this is by the same maker as the UK7s.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

    Hi Tom.
I like your GAB. I have not seen that exact hinge with the oval hinge plate on a 1.24 (unknown maker # 7) before, but it would not worry me. That hinge is original, and I have seen it as variant hardware on examples of Friedrich Orth's GABs. So those hinge-pin assemblies were period, at least in my opinion.
